SOME OBSERVATIONS ON TYPE IN SE1

As I continue to explore SE1, I have notice old and young signage side by side. I have to admit the new signs are clearer but on the whole I prefer the old signage, what do you think.

With this sign at Gabriel's Wharf, to me the G looks to narrow.

On this sign the letter spacing looks wrong between the A and V.

On a lighter note after seeing this sign it's obvious Taxi drivers don't make good typographers.

And finally

Here are a few more funny danger signs I came across this week in SE1.

This first one was stuck between two garages on an estate car park. What dose it mean? Was it the best place to start a fire. Did it commemorate a place where a famous fire started. Or was it a meeting point for people to gather in the event of a fire. Whatever it was it wasn't very clear.

The second one is really funny if you think about it. Where are the low trees? The sign itself is very low and a danger to little people who might be walking about minding their own business. Is it a sign for bus drivers only or all drivers and how come those on bikes are not in danger. It's a bit of a mystery.
